Research

My focus is on delivering research outcomes and recommendations pertaining to higher education internationalisation that are based on academic rigour and an in-depth understanding.

Internationalisation can be an impactful driver of the quality of Higher Education. Increasingly stakeholders, such as governments, funders, parents and students, challenge Higher Education Institutions to evidence the added value of internationalisation, both for students and society in general. As an experienced educational and institutional researcher my focus is on delivering research outcomes and recommendations that are based on academic rigour and an in-depth understanding of higher education, internationalisation, marketing, communication and recruitment, and intercultural and global competence development. I ensure that research projects provide clear guidance for development of university and educational practices pertaining to internationalisation.

Consultancy

I advise on and deliver organisational change projects that support higher education institutions to deliver on their strategic internationalisation ambitions.

Internationalisation has the potential to function as a change agent of Higher Education Institutions. It triggers the transformation of institutions or parts thereof and empowers them to deliver on their strategic goals and ambitions, for example the marketing and recruitment of international students or the delivery of globally ready and employable graduates. As an experienced and transformational leader and manager, I advise on and deliver organisational change projects. Engagement of staff and students is an element of my participatory approach to change. I ensure commitment to the change process itself and the actual delivery of the projected change benefits during implementation.

Training

I provide inspirational and interactive key note presentations and in-company training for staff and organisations.

Internationalisation requires new or additional competence of academic and professional services staff. Training needs can be identified for example pertaining to the integration of intercultural competence development in the curriculum or facilitating intercultural groups. These needs may also regard effectively and appropriately negotiating and collaborating with international partners. Further, staff may need to develop additional international competences in the professional service areas of marketing, communication, recruitment, and student and alumni services. Underpinned by my experience as a certified trainer of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) I provide inspirational and interactive key note presentations and in-company training for staff and organisations. For leaders and senior managers in internationalisation I provide strategic support and coaching on an individual basis.
